But we’ll remember our night in Salamanca for good reasons too! Dinner in the Plaza Mayor was a highlight, after driving all day from Lisbon. We entered Salamanca over the Roman bridge just before sunset and the City looked as though it was made of gold – the sandstone was such a contrast to the white-washed Lisbon. And then, to watch the sunset while eating paella in Plaza Mayor – it was a pinch-yourself moment!
Isobel was totally won over by the local students playing guitars randomly in the square ... and stomped her feet to the “Las Tunas” – a student minstrel band dressed in full Renaissance costumes.
I was in my element watching the stylish residents... they take their fashion a little more seriously than the Portuguese. Maybe that was why I didn’t notice Bue Bear go astray... Or was it the San Miguel beer?
