Braving the Masses at Mont-St-Michel, France (6th Sept)

I’m not sure how we’ve done it but, aside from the oceans of bodies on the Portugal beaches, we’ve managed to avoid the European Summer masses.

That is until today!

Mont-St-Michel is spectacular so it is no wonder that thousands of others were also lured to this castle set on an island that has a natural ocean “moat” when the tide is in.

But when the tide is out, the tourists are free to cross the mud plains like invaders swarming this impressive monument.

Isobel loved crossing the mud flats with Dad and Dadda – miles of squelchy, thick grey mud.

How nice it was to return to our “oasis”, our Brittany home exchange at the end of the day!
